Sidi Bou Said stands on a cliff above the Gulf of Tunis, and the viewpoints along the cliff edge are some of the best in Tunisia. From several spots — most easily reached by following the main street past the Cafe des Nattes and continuing to the quieter lanes beyond — you look south and west across the gulf, with Cap Bon in the distance on a clear day and the faint outline of the Cap Bon peninsula stretching away to the right.
The views are best in the late afternoon when the light goes golden and the sea takes on a deep blue that makes the white-and-blue village even more striking behind you. The northern end of the cliff path also gives views back towards La Marsa and the Tunisian coast.
