The best months to visit Tozeur are October through April, when temperatures are manageable — days in the mid-20s Celsius, nights cool but not cold. Spring (March–May) is pleasant and the desert landscape is at its most colourful. October brings the date harvest, which fills the palm grove with activity.
Summer is extreme. July temperatures regularly exceed 45°C and the heat makes outdoor exploration difficult during the day. Tourism drops sharply and some facilities close. If you must visit in summer, everything happens in the early morning and late evening; the middle of the day belongs entirely to the shade.
The Saharan music festival, the Festival International des Oasis, runs in October and draws musicians from across the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa.
