Things to Do

Zarzis is not a sightseeing destination in the conventional sense, but it rewards slow travel. The long empty beaches north and south of town are the main draw in summer. The port area is genuinely working, with fishing boats and a small commercial harbour worth an hour of wandering. The medina is compact and unpolished, with a market that supplies the town rather than tourists. The island of Jerba is 20 minutes away by car across the causeway, and most visitors combine the two.
