Jinja is 80 kilometres east of Kampala, about two hours by road depending on traffic — the road is good but the Kampala outskirts can be slow. Minibuses (matatus) run frequently from Kampala's Old Taxi Park to Jinja's main bus station throughout the day. Shared taxis are faster. There's no train service and no commercial flights to Jinja itself; the nearest airports are Entebbe International (about 90 km) and Kampala's domestic Kajjansi airstrip.
