The Bujagali area, about ten kilometres downstream from central Jinja, is the hub for most of the adventure activity on the Nile. The rafting put-in, the bungee platform, and several of the better lodges and campsites are clustered here. Even if you're not doing an activity, it's worth the ride out to get a sense of the river in its fuller channel — wider and more forceful than it appears from the Jinja waterfront.
The shoreline around Bujagali has basic craft sellers, a few food stalls, and men who will canoe you out on dugout boats for a small fee. The atmosphere is informal and slightly chaotic in the way that African adventure hubs tend to be. Accommodation here is better value and more atmospheric than staying in town.
