Main Camp is the practical hub of Hwange: park offices, ZimParks accommodation, campsites, basic services, and the start of the easiest game-drive loops. It is not the wildest corner of the park, but it is the most straightforward base for first-time visitors and self-drivers coming from Bulawayo or Victoria Falls.
The surrounding roads reach several productive pans within a short drive, so you can make morning and late-afternoon loops without committing to long transits. Wildlife here is used to vehicles compared with the remoter sectors, and sightings can be excellent in the dry season. The trade-off is that Main Camp sees the most traffic.
