Mana Pools is reached from the Harare-Chirundu road. Travellers usually check in with ZimParks near Marongora before continuing through the park gates toward Nyamepi on the Zambezi floodplain. From Harare, allow a long day even in good conditions; the final stretch is slow dirt road and should not be driven in the dark.
A high-clearance 4WD is strongly recommended, and in the wet season it becomes essential. Carry fuel, food, drinking water, recovery gear, and a spare tyre in good condition. There are no shops inside the park and limited help if you break down. Charter flights and lodge transfers are available for travellers using private camps.
