Mana Pools is about wildlife at ground level: walking under winterthorn trees, watching elephants feed on the floodplain, sitting quietly by the Zambezi, and driving slowly between pools at dawn and dusk. The river frontage around Nyamepi is the easiest area to explore; Chitake Springs is wilder and more demanding. Do not treat walking here casually. This is unfenced big-game country, and local rules and permits must be respected.
