Kratie sits on the main route between Phnom Penh and the Laos border, and public buses are the obvious way to get here. The journey from Phnom Penh is long but genuinely interesting — plenty of food stops, local colour, and squat toilets along the way.
Bus from Phnom Penh: Air-conditioned public bus from the main bus station near the central market — US$4.30. The ride takes 7–8 hours with many stops. Grab the front seats for extra legroom.
Bus to Stung Treng: Continuing north to the last town before the Laos border costs US$4.80 and takes around 3 hours.
