Shopping in Siem Reap

Siem Reap has the best range of Cambodian handicraft shopping outside Phnom Penh, ranging from the Old Market's chaotic bazaar energy to the fixed-price quality stores of social enterprises.

Artisans Angkor is the most reliable source of genuine, high-quality Cambodian crafts — silk, lacquerware, stone carving, and silverwork made by trained local artisans. Fixed prices, no negotiation, and everything is what it claims to be.

Old Market (Phsar Chas) is the place for lower-priced souvenirs, silk scarves, spices, and packaged food. Negotiation is expected. Quality varies but the atmosphere is excellent.

The Kandal Village boutique cluster around Street 9 and Hap Guan Street has several independently owned shops selling design-conscious clothing, jewellery, and homewares. These are the places to find something genuinely made in Cambodia, by designers who live and work here, rather than imported stock with an Angkor label.

The Night Market on Sivatha Street operates every evening from around 5pm — a good environment for browsing handicrafts and gifts in a less intense setting than the daytime market.
