Qiyun Mountain lies about 33 kilometers west of Tunxi (Huang Shan city). Buses run from Tunxi bus station to Qiyunshan town at the mountain's base; the journey takes roughly an hour. Taxis from Tunxi are faster and more convenient for groups, and many visitors combine the mountain with a day trip from a base in Huang Shan city.
From the base village, a cable car provides access to the upper mountain for those who prefer not to climb; the main trail on foot takes about an hour to reach the principal shrine area. The mountain is small enough to cover comfortably in a half-day, making it an easy morning or afternoon excursion before or after visiting Huang Shan.
