The tulou clusters are served by two main access points. From Xiamen, direct tourist buses run to the Yongding cluster (Hongkeng, Gaobei) in about 3 hours; private cars reach it in around 2 hours. The Nanjing clusters (Tianluokeng) are reached from Zhangzhou city, about 60 kilometres away by road. Longyan city offers high-speed rail connections and bus service to Yongding County — the bus to Hukeng near Hongkeng takes about 90 minutes from Longyan station. A rented car or private driver is the most flexible option if you want to visit both Yongding and Nanjing in a single trip, as the two clusters are in different counties with no direct public bus connection.
