The best seasons for Wuyishan are autumn (October to November) and spring (March to April). In autumn the air is clear, the foliage turns, and the morning mist settles in the valleys below the peaks — the classic Wuyi Mountain postcard conditions. Spring brings the tea harvest season, when the valleys are fragrant with fresh-picked leaves and you can watch the processing at small farms.
Summer (June to August) is hot, humid, and peak tourist season; the raft queue can be long and the scenic area paths crowded. Winter (December to February) is cold but quiet, and the chance of mountain snowfall makes for dramatic scenery if you are lucky. Rain is possible year-round but heaviest from April to June. Whatever the season, the Impressions Da Hong Pao show runs nightly weather permitting — check conditions before booking tickets.
