Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) has direct flights to most major Chinese cities, several other Asian capitals, and a handful of European routes. The airport is on the north shore of Xiamen Island, about 10 kilometres from the city centre; the metro Line 3 connects it to the city in about 30 minutes.
High-speed trains on the Fuzhou–Xiamen line run to Fuzhou in about an hour, to Wenzhou in two hours, and to Shanghai in about eight. The line continues south to Shenzhen in three to four hours. Xiamen North station handles all high-speed services and is connected to the city centre by metro Line 1. The ferry to Gulangyu Island departs from two terminals on the Xiamen waterfront: the public ferry from Lundu Terminal (near Zhongshan Road) is free and runs around the clock; the tourist ferry from International Cruise Center is faster but costs 35 yuan return.
