Overseas Chinese Museum

The Overseas Chinese Museum tells the story of Chinese communities abroad, especially the links between Fujian, Southeast Asia, and the wider Chinese diaspora. It was founded by Tan Kah Kee, the Xiamen-born rubber magnate who also funded schools and institutions in Singapore and Xiamen.

The museum is a useful stop before or after visiting Xiamen University and South Putuo Temple, giving context to the money, migration, and family networks that shaped modern Xiamen.
