Zhangzhou is on the Fuzhou–Shenzhen high-speed railway, with frequent trains from Xiamen taking about 25–40 minutes depending on the service. The high-speed station (Zhangzhou North) is a few kilometres outside the city centre; local buses and taxis connect it to the old city. From Fuzhou the journey takes about an hour and a half. There is no airport in Zhangzhou itself; Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, about 45 minutes by train, is the nearest hub for international connections.
