Jiuquan's sights are modest compared to its famous neighbours — this is a transit city rather than a destination in itself. The Drum and Bell Tower in the old city centre is the best preserved of the Hexi Corridor's historic towers, and the surrounding old city lanes are worth an hour's walk. The main reason most travellers stop here is the Wine Spring Park, which sits on the site of the legendary spring and is pleasant rather than spectacular. For those continuing west, the Satellite Launch Center is nearby but inaccessible.
