Muto-ji Temple is best known for Zhangye's wooden pagoda, a nine-storey tower rebuilt in 1926 on an older temple site. The carved dragon heads, wind chimes, and layered eaves make it one of the more distinctive structures in the city centre.
If the tower is open, climb for a compact view over Zhangye. Even from ground level, it is an easy stop to pair with nearby Dafo Temple and the city museum.
