Chaozhou does not have its own high-speed rail station; the nearest is Chaoshan Station, which serves both Chaozhou and Shantou and is located between the two cities. From Guangzhou South Station, the journey to Chaoshan takes about two hours on a G-train. Local buses and taxis connect Chaoshan Station to Chaozhou city centre in about forty-five minutes.
From Shantou, buses run frequently and take about an hour. The combination of the two cities — Shantou for its modern energy and Chaozhou for its old city — makes an excellent base for exploring the Teochew heartland.
