Qingyuan has a subtropical monsoon climate, hot and humid from April through September and mild and dry from October through March. The water parks and gorge scenic areas are most enjoyable in summer (May to September) when the heat makes cool water and canyon shade appealing, but this is also when they are most crowded and queues at Gulongxia can be several hours long.
Autumn (October to November) is the most pleasant season for sightseeing: comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, clearer skies, and significantly smaller crowds. Spring brings heavy rainfall that can close hiking trails. The Feilai Temple and the Bei River boat trips are good in any season, and the hot spring resorts are popular through the winter months precisely because of the cooler air.
