Beihai's seafood is outstanding — fresh, cheap, and available at quantity. The night markets near the waterfront are the place to eat: open-air tables, cold beer, and a rotating selection of shellfish, crabs, fish, and prawns straight from the Gulf of Tonkin boats. The combination of subtropical warmth and that much seafood at those prices is one of the genuine pleasures of the city.
