The Big Banyan Tree is a long-lived landmark south of Yangshuo, famous partly for its age and partly for the romantic legends attached to it. The tree spreads beside the road through classic Guangxi scenery: limestone hills, fields, and slow tourist traffic toward Moon Hill.
It is a modest stop, but a useful one if you are cycling or driving the countryside around Yangshuo. Do not expect solitude; come for the old tree, the shade, and the sense of how local stories cling to the landscape.
