Liupanshui is connected to Guiyang by high-speed rail (about 1.5 hours) on the Shanghai–Kunming line, which also gives direct connections to Kunming (about 2 hours) and on to the main east-west rail corridor. The city has two high-speed rail stations — Liupanshui Station and Shuicheng North — depending on direction of travel; check which station your train uses.
There is no commercial airport at Liupanshui. For air travel, Guiyang Longdongbao Airport is the nearest major hub, with high-speed rail from there running through Liupanshui toward Kunming. The city's position on the Guiyang–Kunming axis makes it a natural stop on longer overland journeys between Yunnan and Guizhou.
