Zhaoxing is a village rather than a city, and it is best experienced slowly. The drum towers, wind-and-rain bridges, and the evening performance of Dong polyphonic song are the three things everyone comes to see; the surrounding valley and the quieter neighbouring villages of Jitang and Tang'an are the things that make a night's stay worthwhile.
