Zunyi is well-connected by high-speed rail to Guiyang, the provincial capital: the journey takes about 50 minutes and services are frequent. From Guiyang, connections to the national high-speed network include Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Kunming. Zunyi North Station is the high-speed terminal, located in the new town area north of the historic centre; taxis and the city bus network connect the station to the old town in about 20 minutes.
From Chongqing by high-speed rail takes about two hours. The city also has a small airport (Zunyi Maotai Airport) with flights to major Chinese cities. Long-distance buses from Guiyang and Chongqing are slower but cheaper alternatives, dropping passengers at the main bus station near the city centre.
