Loushan Pass is a mountain pass north of Zunyi that has become one of the city's main red-history excursions. The site is tied to the 1935 Long March fighting around Zunyi and to Mao Zedong's poem on crossing the pass, which gives the landscape a political resonance beyond the view itself.
Even if revolutionary history is not your main interest, the pass helps explain why Zunyi mattered: this is steep, strategic country where roads, armies, and mountain weather all meet. Expect a managed scenic area rather than a lonely battlefield, and give yourself time for the memorial material as well as the mountain scenery.
