Danzhou's attractions are spread across the city and its surroundings: the Dongpo Academy in the eastern part of town, the Yangpu Ancient Salt Field on the coast to the south, and the Floral Rock Cave Geopark outside the city. The city itself rewards a day of unhurried exploration by someone who wants to see a part of Hainan the resort brochures ignore.
