The site is open year-round but is best visited between October and April, when the weather is dry and the light is clearest. The summer months bring high humidity and the possibility of typhoons, which can make the coast rough and uncomfortable. Weekend mornings from November through January are the quietest period, before the New Year holiday influx.
Weekday mornings before 10am are noticeably less crowded than afternoons or weekends, when tour groups arrive from Sanya in quantity. The light is also better early: the inscribed cliff faces east-northeast and catches the morning sun at a low angle that makes the carved characters stand out sharply.
