Things to Do

The Eastern Qing Tombs complex spreads across several kilometres of valley, so plan to spend the better part of a day. The sites open to visitors include the Xiaoling (Shunzhi Emperor), the Yuling (Qianlong Emperor) where the burial chambers are accessible, and Ding Dongling, Empress Dowager Cixi's famously lavish mausoleum. Entry to the main complex is a single ticket; separate admission is required to enter the underground burial chambers.

Come on a weekday if you can. The site receives far fewer visitors than the Ming Tombs and on quieter days you can walk the spirit ways almost alone.
