The Longmen Grottoes are 13 kilometres south of central Luoyang. Bus 81 from Luoyang's main train station runs directly to the site and costs about ¥1.50; the journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Taxis from the centre take about 25 minutes and cost ¥25–35. The Luoyang Longmen high-speed rail station is also nearby — if you are arriving from Zhengzhou or Xian by high-speed train, you can exit here and reach the grottoes in about 15 minutes by taxi rather than continuing to the main Luoyang station.
Entry is ¥120 and covers both the west cliff (the main section with most of the notable caves) and the east cliff across the Yi River bridge. Opening hours are typically 7am to 6pm (later in summer). A separate cruise boat service on the Yi River operates seasonally; the view of the carved cliff face from the water gives a perspective you can't get on foot.
