Sanmenxia's three main draws are the Guo State Museum (for the chariot-and-horse burial pits), Swan Lake Wetland Park (for the migrating whooper swans from October to February), and Hangu Pass (for Yellow River gorge scenery and Daoist history). The city itself is modern and unremarkable, but these three sites together justify an overnight stay.
