The Peninsula has been Hong Kong's grande dame hotel since 1928, and its lobby tea service is one of the city's genuine institutions. A string quartet plays from the gallery above as you work through the three-tier stand of sandwiches, scones, and pastries. Tea runs daily 2–7pm (lobby) and Friday–Sunday 3–5pm (Verandah). Dress smartly. Book ahead, particularly on weekends.
The hotel's Chinese restaurant Spring Moon (1/F) serves traditional Cantonese in a 1920s Shanghai tea house setting. The dim sum lunch is a more affordable entry point than dinner.
