Shennongjia rewards visitors who come for the wilderness itself — the forested ridges, the golden snub-nosed monkeys, and the high-altitude scenery around Shennongding. The reserve is large enough that a two-day stay allows you to reach the main scenic areas without rushing, and the absence of large crowds compared to better-known Chinese nature destinations is one of its chief merits.
