Changsha has a metro system with six lines covering most of the main attractions. Line 4 connects Orange Island (Juzizhou station) to Wuyi Square and the old city. Line 2 runs east-west through the city centre. Line 6 connects to the airport. Tickets cost ¥2–6 depending on distance; a single-day pass is ¥18. The metro is the most efficient way to move between the riverfront, the old city, and the northern museum quarter.
Taxis and rideshare (Didi) are widely available and inexpensive by Chinese standards. Cycling is feasible along the riverfront promenades but traffic in the city centre is aggressive. For Yuelu Mountain and the academy on the west bank, the Orange Isle Bridge provides pedestrian and cycling access from the island, or you can cross on the main bridges. Electric scooter rental is available in several locations. For day trips to Shaoshan or Changde, high-speed rail is far more practical than driving.
