Yueyang's main attractions are concentrated around Dongting Lake: the historic Yueyang Tower on its northern shore, the boat trip to Junshan Island, and the lake views themselves. The city is also associated with the Dragon Boat Festival through its connection to the poet Qu Yuan and the Miluo River to the east, which draws visitors in June for the international races.
