When to Go

Taizhou has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Spring (March–May) is the best time to visit, especially if you plan to see the Xinghua rapeseed fields, which bloom from late March to mid-April. Autumn (September–November) is pleasant and coincides with the hairy crab season, when the city's signature dumplings are at their best.

Summer (June–August) is hot and humid, with temperatures regularly exceeding 35°C and a rainy season (plum rain season) in June and July. Winter is cold and damp but functional; January averages around 3°C. There are no major public festivals that significantly affect visitor numbers, so the city can be visited without the crowds that descend on more famous Jiangsu destinations.
