Xuzhou is one of China's most important rail junctions. Xuzhou East Station is on the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed line and handles the fastest trains in both directions, with journey times of about 2.5 hours to Beijing and 2 hours to Shanghai. The older downtown Xuzhou Station handles slower services to regional destinations and is more convenient for the city centre.
Important: Xuzhou (徐州) and Suzhou (苏州) look similar in Roman letters and are sometimes confused when booking tickets online. They are 400 kilometres apart. Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport handles domestic routes. Bus services connect Xuzhou to other cities in northern Jiangsu and neighbouring provinces.
