Ganzhou has excellent high-speed rail connections that make it far more accessible than its remote position on the map suggests. The Jinan–Guangzhou High-Speed Railway passes through the city, giving direct trains to Shenzhen in about two hours and Guangzhou in about two and a half. Trains to Nanchang take about 90 minutes; connections to Fuzhou and other Fujian cities are also direct. The high-speed rail station is about 15 kilometres from the old city centre and well-served by taxis and city buses.
Long-distance buses serve smaller destinations in southern Jiangxi that are not yet on the high-speed network. The main bus station is near the old town. Ganzhou also has a domestic airport with flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Chongqing.
