When to Go

Ganzhou has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable times to visit, with temperatures in the 15–25°C range and lower humidity. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 35°C, making outdoor sightseeing uncomfortable from June through August. Winter is mild by northern Chinese standards — temperatures rarely fall below 5°C — and the city is much quieter then.

The Hakka Cultural Festival, held each autumn, brings folk performances, traditional food markets, and exhibitions on Hakka history and culture to the city centre.
