Xinyu's genuine highlights are Fairy Lake (仙女湖) and the Fu Baoshi Park. The lake is the city's main natural attraction — an improbably scenic reservoir with forested islands and boat tours that most visitors miss entirely. The park honors the city's most celebrated native son, the ink painter Fu Baoshi, and provides a pleasant green space alongside a serious museum. The West Jiangxi War Resistance Museum documents a less well-known dimension of the Sino-Japanese War.
