High-speed rail connects Yanji to Changchun in under two hours — the Changchun-Hunchun line has made the journey significantly faster than it once was. Yanji Chaoyangchuan International Airport has flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and several South Korean cities including Seoul and Busan, reflecting the strong ties between Yanbian and the South Korean diaspora community.
From Yanji, buses and trains run east to Hunchun (about two hours), which sits at the trilateral border with Russia and North Korea. Changbaishan is accessible from here as an alternative to the northern or western approaches — the eastern gate adds some distance but avoids the most heavily touristed entry points.
