Anshan is ninety kilometres south of Shenyang on the Beijing-Harbin high-speed rail line, making the journey from the provincial capital about twenty-five minutes by fast train. From Beijing, Anshan is reachable in three to four hours on high-speed services. The city is also accessible from Dalian to the south in about an hour.
Anshan makes a logical day trip from Shenyang, though a night here gives you time to reach Qianshan at a civilised hour before the day-trippers from Shenyang arrive. The station is centrally located and taxis and ride-sharing are readily available to the main attractions.
