Macau is small — you can walk across the peninsula in under an hour — and the historic centre is entirely a walking affair. For longer hops (peninsula to Cotai, or out to Coloane), use the cheap local buses, plentiful taxis, or the free casino shuttle buses that run between the big hotels, the ferry terminals, the airport and the border gate. They are genuinely free and anyone can ride them, whether or not you plan to gamble. Macau's LRT light-rail line connects the Cotai Strip, the airport, and both ferry terminals.
