St. Joseph's Seminary and Church

St. Joseph's Seminary and Church is one of old Macau's quieter Baroque landmarks. The seminary was founded in the 18th century as a base for Catholic missionary work across China, Japan, and the wider region; the adjoining church followed in 1758.

The church is the part most visitors come to see, with a graceful facade and a calmer mood than the busier heritage sights near Senado Square. It pairs well with St. Lawrence's Church and the lanes of the old peninsula.
