The Forest of Steles is a useful stop inside the Western Xia tomb area, especially if the burial mounds themselves feel mute at first glance. The inscribed stones and displays give you a closer look at the scripts, names, and official memory of a kingdom that otherwise survives mostly in fragments.
Do not expect the drama of the imperial tomb mounds. This is a context stop, best visited before or after the museum and the main earth pyramids, when you are trying to connect the archaeology to the people who built and ruled here.
