Getting There

Yinchuan Hedong International Airport has flights to most major Chinese cities, including Beijing (around 2 hours), Shanghai (around 2.5 hours), and Xi'an (around 1 hour). The airport is about 20 kilometres east of the city centre; taxis and airport buses connect it to the main districts.

Yinchuan also sits on the national rail network. High-speed trains connect it to Lanzhou (about 2 hours) and to Zhongwei (about 45 minutes) in the south of Ningxia. Slower trains run to Xi'an and Beijing, but flying is generally faster and not significantly more expensive for those routes.

Long-distance buses serve destinations across Ningxia and into neighbouring Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Shaanxi, but these are slow and usually inferior to rail options for major routes.
