From Xi'an, high-speed trains to Huashan North Station (the correct station for the mountain, not Huashan Station which is further away) take thirty-three to forty-five minutes. The station is in Huayin city, and from there taxis or buses run to the mountain park entrance, about twelve kilometres away. The total journey from Xi'an city centre to the cable car takes under two hours.
Alternatively, tourist buses operate from Xi'an's Hua Shan Tourist Bus Station near the Bell Tower. These take around two hours.
Cable cars: There are two cable car options. The North Peak Cable Car (Zhifeng) takes twelve minutes and deposits you at the North Peak (1,614m). The West Peak Cable Car (Yunti) takes fifteen minutes to the ridge between West and South Peaks. Using the West Peak car up and the North Peak car down, or vice versa, allows a full ridge traverse without retracing your steps.
On foot: The North Trail (Zhifeng Trail) from Yuquan Temple to North Peak takes four to six hours. The more challenging East Trail and West Trail are less commonly used.
Entry: The park charges an entrance fee plus separate cable car fees. The entrance fee drops significantly in winter.
