Linyi Museum covers the region's history from the Dawenkou Neolithic culture through the Han Dynasty and into the modern period. The strongest sections are the Han Dynasty exhibits — the region was heavily settled in the Han period and has yielded significant tomb finds — and the Yimeng resistance base material from the Second World War. The Han tomb goods include lacquerware, bronze vessels, and the kind of everyday objects that reveal more about life in the Han world than formal archaeological reports do.
The museum is large and modern, free to enter, and well organized. Allow two hours for a thorough visit. The collections complement the Yinqueshan Bamboo Slips Museum well — visiting both in the same day provides a comprehensive picture of Linyi's ancient and medieval heritage.
