The Tianyu Natural History Museum in Linyi's Pingyi County, about 70 kilometres from the city center, holds one of the world's largest dinosaur collections under a single roof — a vast hangar-like building containing complete mounted skeletons, fossil walls, and educational displays covering the Mesozoic Era. The collection is especially strong in feathered dinosaurs from northeast China, with specimens that demonstrate the evolutionary connection between dinosaurs and birds.
The scale of the collection is the point: this is not a selective museum of highlights but an overwhelming accumulation of complete specimens that conveys the actual diversity of dinosaur life in a way that smaller collections cannot. Plan at least three hours; the museum has a cafeteria. It is most practically visited from Linyi as a day trip, reaching Pingyi County by bus (about 2 hours) or taxi (about 1 hour). Entry is around ¥80.
