Nishan Sacred Land expands the Qufu Confucius story beyond the old temple, mansion, and cemetery circuit. The site uses monumental architecture, performances, and landscaped space to present Confucian culture on a much larger contemporary stage.
It is some distance from central Qufu, so it needs deliberate planning. Purists may prefer the older historic sites, but travellers interested in how modern China stages classical tradition will find it revealing.
